Our mission is to work collaboratively to ensure that all students will encourage one another to be responsible, take chances, pursue excellence, and explore their full potential. By being kind, working hard, and making art, combined with a rigorous academic program based on the Common Core standards, our students will become critical thinkers who can excel in society.
Our vision at the Conservatory of the Arts is to inspire a passion for learning through a multicultural perspective while providing a safe, positive environment where our students can grow socially, academically, and artistically in order to become accountable global citizens.

2023 DESE Conservatory Report Card
Families and communities are critical partners to a school's success. Just as a student's report card shows how they are performing, the school report card shows how a school is performing in multiple areas. It shows the school's strengths and the challenges that need to be addressed to ensure the school is meeting the needs of all students.

About the Conservatory
The Springfield Conservatory of the Arts enables students to focus on their interest in the arts, whether they are dancers, authors, painters, sculptors, musicians, poets, playwrights, illustrators or actors. All students receive classes in Dance, Music, Visual Arts and Drama, as part of their every day schedule. Here students make art every day! Learning Through the Arts The Conservatory offers an arts-infused curriculum grounded in academic inquiry, collaborative small-group instruction, and professionally-guided arts training. A rigorous academic program based on the Common Core standards ensures that graduates are prepared to attend college and join the work force as creative and critical thinkers. In addition to specific arts classes, Conservatory teachers integrate the arts into the core subjects of ELA, Mathematics, Social Studies and Science. Arts-integrated lessons and activities provide additional hours in the arts and help students make connections between subject areas and understand how creative expression in the arts can be used as a lens to see the world and provide them with a rich, new language to describe what they see, hear, and feel. Arts Partnerships Working with artists-in-residence and school partners, our students benefit from expertise in all areas of the arts. Partners such as The Community Music School of Springfield, Double Edge Theatre, Enchanted Circle Theatre, Snow Farm New England Craft Program, David Horgan Media, the Springfield Museums and many others have enthusiastically embraced our students. Conservatory Performances In the ten years that The Conservatory has been open, students have thrilled audiences with a variety of exhibitions and performances. Working with the Indian Orchards Mills Artists, our students served as docents for tours of professional artists' studio work while Conservatory musicians performed for the guests. Coffee House performances saw student dancers, artists, musicians and poets sharing their work with their peers and families. Our Connections and Collisions celebration at the Community Music School of Springfield had every single student in our school participating in this ode to Cuban and African music and dance. Conservatory dancers performed at the Log Cabin to celebrate the Pioneer Valley Teachers of Excellence awards and our students proudly walked their families and friends through an exhibition of their artwork at the Springfield Museums. Conservatory students know what it means to produce and perform and live up to our motto: Be Kind, Work Hard, Make Art! |
